Let food be thy medicine.

One of the first things that I knew I needed to change was my eating habits. I was in denial for a loooong time about how I nourished my body. I was the girl who would eat a box of Smarties for lunch and then have toast for dinner. I spent so much time going to school and working, there just never seemed to be enough time in the day and quite frankly, I didn’t really see it as a problem. I was ignorant. Very ignorant. My body would be lucky to see a glass of water in a week and even luckier to see a vegetable in a whole month.

Enter cancer. The Agency tells you not to worry about it. Sugar is fine. Everything is okay. Actually, they serve hot chocolate and cookies while you are having chemo. Insane.

I was committed to eating better. I just didn’t know how to do that. I had zero interest in cooking and eating a plateful of vegetables. I had heard about the Vitamix from a few people and laughed at the fools that paid $600 for a blender. Well, I have changed my tune. After that first chemo appointment, I rushed out and bought this magical machine. If I am being totally honest, it sat in the box for about a month because I had no idea what to do with it. Pathetic, I know.

Trusted and true, Krista shows up one day and frees the Vitamix from it’s boxy prison. She whips up a Kale & Peach smoothie and the first thing that strikes me is how GREEN it is. I am terrified to drink it. I have never had kale in my life. Kale could have slapped me in the face and I still wouldn’t have known what it was. Good ‘ol Krista, always pushing me outside of my comfort zone. The smoothie was delicious. I was hooked. I now had a way to improve my eating habits immediately.

This is what I love about this magical machine:

  • Super Powered - It pulverizes anything that you put in it which helps release the flavours of your ingredients
  • Blending – keeps all of the fiber and nutrients from the ingredients so you get all of the benefits
  • It is easy to use – there are two settings with a speed dial when you need to ramp it up
  • Heat – you can make soups and sauces ready to serve by blending them for 6 minutes
  • Guaranteed- it comes with a seven year warranty

I bought the 5200C which is the base model and it was worth the investment. We have used it every day for 4 years and it shows no sign of slowing down. This blender will last you a lifetime and will help sneak vegetables into your kid’s drinks. I also use it to make hemp and almond milk. Delicious. You will not be disappointed.
