Having cancer is a huge signal that something has gone awry in the body. Mostly, the body is out of balance in many areas including oxygen, vitamins, minerals and sugar. The key to managing this disease is bringing the body back into balance so that it is able to recognize and deal with rogue cells.
Otto Warburg won a Noble Peace Prize for his work on the investigation of the metabolism of tumours and the respiration of cells. He observed that cancer cells’ metabolism works differently than that of a normal cell. Normal adult cells use a small energy plant located inside them to produce most of their energy needs from oxygen, this is an aerobic process. In contrast, cancer cells rely mainly on the first part of the energy production process dependent on glucose (sugar), this is an anaerobic process. The anaerobic process is called glycolysis.
With this knowledge in hand, I try to make every nutritional decision with this in mind. Am I feeding my body or am I feeding cancer? How is this building my immune system? Am I creating an oxygenated environment where cancer cannot survive?
One of my morning rituals is to drink warm lemon water first thing in the morning. The benefits include:
- Flushes toxins from the body
- Vitamin C – protects the body against immune system deficiencies
- Excellent source of calcium potassium, magnesium and pectin fibre
- Helps to balance the pH levels
- It is a powerful anti-bacterial
- Helps to flush out toxins & aids digestion
- Helps to clear skin and reduce wrinkles – extra perk!
What to do:
Mix 2 cups of warm alkaline water with 3 slices of fresh, organic lemon. Drink it first thing in the morning before you put anything else into your body. Difficult, I know.
